We could see many different uses for a money pooling service, the user interviews helped direct our efforts; users generally pool money for a specific reason, the longest lasting being for betting, typically on sports like fantasy football.

It could be difficult to get an entire party on-board, we brainstormed some ideas for how we might streamline onboarding and invites. We wanted to allow users to connect their accounts to other money apps like Venmo or Paypal to streamline the experience.

To direct our design we created a user flow, then we sketched out paper prototypes given what we had learned from competitor apps and guided by our user flow. Afterwards, we combined our favorite designs in a low-fidelity digital prototype.

Our first user test pointed out that the payout function would not be practical and suggested that we change it to pay based on a percentage instead. Users also had some trouble with readability due to iconography and IA.

Thanks to the user testing, we were able to update our design to increase readability and practical use. If I were to revisit the design I might consider leaning even more into the aesthetic of fantasy football, especially in the UI design.
